At the warehouse Jack is moved into another room. At CTU, the staff tries to find Marwan’s white van but they are unable to track it down, also Division will send over an agent named Bill Buchannan who will take over operations at CTU. Back at the warehouse, Jack looks around the room and notices some old telephone wires. Jack maneuvers into position and he tampers with the wires, they spark and Jack sends some sort of signal. Meanwhile, Marwan knows how important the next phase of the operation is and he decides to use Jack to his advantage. Marwan calls CTU and offers to trade Jack for Behrooz. CTU isn’t prepared for the exchange but with no leads on Marwan’s location they agree to go along with the exchange. Marwan warns CTU not to interfere with the exchange. The exchange will take place at the Sepulveda dam. Marwan is just doing the trade to distract CTU because with CTU scrambling all of their resources for the exchange Marwan knows that they will be unable to investigate the operation at the Air Force base and the trade is nothing more than misdirection to ensure the completion of Anderson’s operation. Back at CTU, Curtis prepares to interrogate Behrooz. CTU thinks that Marwan wants him because he can provide information that is damaging to Marwan and his future attacks. Curtis pushes Behrooz hard but he realizes that Behrooz may not know anything. At the warehouse, Marwan and his men move Jack into a van. Marwan then speaks with Anderson. At the Air Force base, Anderson’s plan to steal a stealth bomber hit’s a snag when he learns that the plane has been grounded because of mechanical problems, I believe the problems involve the landing gear. Marwan tells Anderson that Keeler will be landing soon and that there target of opportunity is gradually closing. Marwan then orders Anderson to improvise and fix the situation. Anderson then kills the mechanic and forges some documents that clear the stealth bomber for take-off. The aircraft will be unable to land after take-off but that doesn’t really seem to bother Anderson.

At CTU, Curtis and Behrooz leave to head for the exchange. Meanwhile Bill Buchannan arrives and assumes command. Michelle and Tony share a brief scene about Tony’s role in the investigation and Michelle is proud of Tony’s steady turnaround. If you guys are waiting for Michelle and Tony to get back together there is a slight problem, we will learn about Michelle’s current love interest in the next episode. And this episode wouldn’t be complete without Audrey’s overemotional storyline. Audrey is worried about Paul’s health and she is even more worried about Jack. Meanwhile, Edgar and Chloe are busy working on the investigation and Chloe doesn’t like working under Edgar. A LAPD hourly report is sent to CTU. Edgar receives it but he tries to hand it off to Chloe. They both want to take the lead in the investigation and this leads to a massive mistake. The report is brushed off and information on the Air Force pilot is pushed aside and Anderson‘s operation is a go. In the van, Jack and Marwan’s men arrive at the dam. They get out and start to walk towards the other end of the walkway. Marwan wants Jack dead and he has a sniper watching Jack’s every move. Behrooz exit’s the car and Curtis watches as he walks across the walkway. Behrooz and Jack cross each other and Behrooz asks about Dina and Jack denies that anything is wrong. The exchange is nearly over. Marwan tells his sniper to kill Jack. A gunshot rings out. A CTU sniper takes out Marwan’s sniper. Jack gets into the car and he immediately calls CTU and tells them about the signal from the phone line at Marwan’s warehouse. CTU contacts the phone company and they track the signal and Marwan’s hide-out is uncovered. At the Air Force base, Anderson finishes his pre-flight procedures. The stealth bomber then exit’s the hanger and moves onto the runway.

24, Day 2.

SPOILER 4.16


March 29th - Jack and the CTU tactical teams close in on Marwan’s hide-out. Inside of the hideout, Marwan and his men are busy preparing for the final phase of the operation. Marwan notices the phone wires that Jack tampered with and he realizes that the hide-out has been compromised. He notifies his men and grabs a remote detonator and he starts to make his way out of the building. Marwan knows he needs to cover his tracks so he hit’s the button on the detonator and all of the computers in the warehouse explode. The doors burst open. Field Ops SUV’s crash into the building and agents pour into the warehouse. CTU and Marwan’s men engage in a fierce gunfight, it’s supposed to be a great shootout scene. CTU cuts down Marwan’s men and they search the building but Marwan is gone. One of Marwan’s men is still alive. The man tells Jack that something big will happen within the hour and that nothing can be done to stop it. CTU sets up a perimeter but Marwan slips through the grid and a van picks him up. Back inside the warehouse, Jack and the other agents search for any evidence on Marwan or his remaining sleeper cells. The warehouse is in ruins from the gunfight and from Marwan’s bombs that blew up the computers. However, Jack is able to find intelligence on a few names and among the names is Marwan’s sleeper Mitch Anderson. Jack relays the information to CTU and they begin to work up new leads. CTU discovers that Anderson is former U.S. Military and CTU realizes that something is wrong. Jack gets Anderson’s home address and he and a field unit head for the house and CTU sends a near-bye female field agent to investigate.

Meanwhile, one of Marwan’s operatives is busy searching Anderson’s house for a hidden hard-drive. The hard-drive contains information of Anderson’s operation. I am pretty sure that the girl searching for the hard-drive is Nicole, the women who slept Captain Hansen. The girl can’t find the hard-drive and she is running out of time. Marwan knows Anderson’s mission details were on the hard-drive and he orders her to find it. The female CTU agent arrives. Marwan’s operative kills the agent and takes her badge and hides the body. Back at CTU, Michelle and Bill Buchannan are working on the investigation. Tony notices the chemistry between Michelle and Buchannan and he asks Michelle about her relationship with Bill and Michelle admits that she has been seeing Bill for awhile. Meanwhile, Jack arrives at Anderson’s home and he and another agent enter. Marwan’s operative pretends to be the female CTU agent and Jack and the other agent start to look around the house. Jack goes upstairs and Marwan’s operative continues to look for the hard-drive. A CTU agent looks behind a faulty outlet and finds the hard-drive. Marwan’s operative kills the agent and takes the hard-drive. Jack looks downstairs and Jack and Marwan’s operative shoot at each other. Jack shoots thru a wall and kills the girl and secures the hard-drive. Jack puts the hard-drive into the computer and calls CTU. Edgar gets Jack into the files and Jack finds information on a stealth aircraft. Jack continues to look into the files and he is shocked to learn that Anderson’s target is the President of the United States.

Marwan speaks with Anderson who is flying somewhere over Southern California. Marwan tells Anderson that he will be taken care of and he will be given safe transport out of the country. Marwan is just telling him what he wants to hear. Marwan hangs up, he and his men have to be somewhere very soon. Meanwhile, aboard Air Force One, President Keeler speaks with his son and they talk about what Keeler should say when he addresses the nation. At CTU, Michelle calls Air Force One and notifies Keeler’s advisors that the President is being hunted down by an armed stealth aircraft. Keeler seems unfazed and he says that he is being protected by a group of fighter jets. But Michelle informs him that Anderson’s aircraft is invincible to radar. In his SUV, Jack is patched into the intercom aboard the stealth aircraft. Jack tries to speak with Anderson and he tries to reason with him but Anderson ignores him and turns off the intercom and he prepares to close in on Air Force One. Meanwhile, Keeler calls Vice-President Logan and notifies him of the situation and Keeler knows this may be the last time he speaks with him and he tells him that he may need to lead the Country in a time of chaos. Anderson makes his final approach and he remains undetected. He arms a missile and takes aim at Air Force One and fires. In Jack’s SUV his cell phone rings. It’s Chloe O’Brien. Chloe tells Jack that Air Force One just suffered an indirect missile strike and that pieces of the plane are scattering all throughout the desert.

In Air Force One, the pilot declares a state of emergency and he says that he is losing altitude and he is going down. He needs a flat spot to make an emergency landing and CTU instructs him to land at a near-bye National Park. At CTU, Jack arrives and he and a field unit leave in a helicopter and head for the park. Meanwhile, Air Force One lands at the park and it’s a very rough landing. A couple who is camping comes across the wreckage and they are completely shocked. The man who is named Jason calls the police who then put him in touch with Jack. Meanwhile, Marwan and his men close in on the crash site. We will soon learn that killing President Keeler wasn’t Marwan’s primary objective. “What we will do today will change the world” starts to make a little more sense now. Back at the park, Jason speaks with Jack who instructs Jason to find the nuclear football. The nuclear football is the device that is always near the President and it controls America’s nuclear weapons. Jason secures the case but he sees cars closing in on the crash site. Marwan is following the tracking device on the nuclear football and he sees it moving and he knows someone has it. Jack tells Jason to disable the tracking device on the front of the briefcase. Jason does and Jack tells Jason and Kelly to hide at a near-bye power plant and to wait for Jack to arrive. Back At CTU, we learn that Anderson ejected from the stealth aircraft but his location is unknown.

In Washington D.C., at the Whitehouse, Vice President Logan is briefed on the missile strike and the crash landing. Mike Novik is Logan’s senior advisor. The subject of the 25th amendment is brought up and everyone agrees that it should be enacted. Vice President Logan learns that he will be sworn in as the President of the United States within the hour. Meanwhile at the crash site, the search and rescue units enter the wreckage. The pilot is still alive and President Keeler is injured but still very much alive. The President’s son is dead and most of the press pool members are unconscious. Meanwhile, Jason and Kelly arrive at the power plant and they try to hide from Marwan and his men. Marwan tracks them to the plant and Jason knows they will find him soon. Aboard the helicopter, Jack calls Audrey at CTU and Audrey gives Jack the combination to open the nuclear football. Jack relays the combination to Jason and he opens it. Jack tells Jason and Kelly to split up and he tells them to split the football in half so if one of them is caught the device will be useless because it requires both halves.

At the power plant, Marwan and his men find Jason. Marwan realizes that the device has been compromised and he tortures Jason. Marwan shoots him in the leg and his men beat him. Jason screams in agony. Kelly is watching Jason get tortured and she can’t take it any longer. Kelly turns herself into Marwan and they stop torturing Jason. Marwan now has both halves of the device and he is in control of America’s nuclear arsenal. Meanwhile, Jack arrives and he kills several of Marwan’s men. Jack comes across Jason and Kelly and he learns that Marwan has the nuclear football. Marwan and his men split up and take separate vehicles. A helicopter comes in and takes out one of Marwan’s Jeeps. Jack gets to the Jeep and the men are dead. Jack looks in the back and sees the nuclear football. Everything seems fine until Jack opens the case and realizes that Marwan has a section of the codes. Meanwhile at the Whitehouse, Vice President Logan is sworn in as President. Jack is put in contact with Mike Novik and Jack tells Mike that Marwan has a section of the nuclear codes. President Logan is informed of the situation and he is shocked realizing that a terrorist has a fraction of America's nuclear arsenal at his fingertips and he looks like he is about to faint.

Ausiello: Here's some scoop, er, buzz on 24: As Mary Lynn Rajskub hinted to AA last month, Chloe will go out into the field in Episode 19 and be forced to use a gun for the first time. And something will happen in the season finale that my 24 mole says "will change the show forever." Short of whacking Jack, I'm not sure what they could do to top blowing up the president of the United States. But I can't wait to find out!
